Two Dogs Trusted Her. Investigators Say She Betrayed That Trust in the Worst Way Possible.
Salina, Kansas – Imagine the terror of being locked inside a vehicle as the heat slowly rises, with no water, no fresh air, and no way to escape.
That is the unimaginable reality two dogs reportedly faced before they died.
According to police, investigators believe the dogs were left inside a vehicle in north Salina in the beginning of May. They died because of the dangerous heat while trapped inside with no way out.
Then, on May 14th, their bodies were reportedly found dumped on the side of a rural road northwest of Salina, in Saline County.
This morning, the Saline County Sheriff’s Office currently lists 20-year-old ShaQuilla Cashay Weaver as “confined but not convicted” and “arrested on warrant.” Official jail records show she was booked four days ago. She is currently facing two counts of animal cruelty and one count of criminal littering – but right now, those are only misdemeanor charges.
There is more to this story. Court records show that, before the animal-cruelty case was filed, Weaver was already facing a separate pending felony aggravated-assault charge in Saline County. That is a different case involving an allegation of a deadly weapon, which was reported to be a knife. Records show a $5,000 personal-recognizance bond was posted in that felony case on June 25th.
