POLICE GUARDED HIS DOOR: But who protected HeeHaw?

Cedartown, Georgia – No one was there to protect HeeHaw when law enforcement entered his pasture in the middle of the night.

But when a local reporter went to the home of Cedartown Police Officer Trenton Garner, the officer who shot HeeHaw, officers were standing outside and wouldn’t allow her to get anywhere near the door.

The reporter asked: “You won’t even let me do a door knock?”

The officer answered: “They don’t want nobody up there right now.”

Think about that. A reporter was simply trying to give Garner an opportunity to explain what happened, but she could not even knock on his door. HeeHaw didn’t get any protection.

He was in his own pasture when officers entered the property while searching for a missing 12-year-old girl. According to Garner’s incident report, K-9 handler Officer Caleb Thomasson spotted HeeHaw on the hill. Garner claims HeeHaw then began to “charge” at the officers.

The report states that Thomasson drew his Taser and arced it in an attempt to deter HeeHaw. Garner then pulled his department-issued Glock 17 and fired one round. HeeHaw turned away, ran back up the hill and collapsed.

His owner, Hannah Israel, says the one-year-old, bottle-raised miniature donkey was gentle, loved people and participated in petting zoos and visits to nursing homes.

Garner has not publicly answered questions about the shooting. His only known account is contained in his written incident report, and critical evidence remains out of public view.

Where is the body-camera footage? Where is the drone video that reportedly captured what happened? And why was law enforcement willing to shield Garner from a reporter’s questions while the public is still waiting for transparency about HeeHaw’s death?

Garner remains on administrative leave. The Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Law Enforcement Division is investigating, and no charges have been filed.

Police guarded Garner’s door. But when HeeHaw needed protection in his own pasture, who protected him?
