He Shot The Neighbor’s Cat With a BB Gun And Now The Cat Has One Eye?
Homestead, Florida – A neighbor’s cat is now living without one eye after police say a 66-year-old man fired a BB gun at the animal last month.
According to WPLG Local 10, Homestead police say the shooting happened around 3:45 p.m. back on May 14th but this story is just now coming to light.
Officers reportedly responded to a call about an injured cat and met with the cat’s owner, who told investigators the animal had been shot while it was in Ramiro Perez’s yard.
The detail that stands out is heartbreaking. The owner told investigators he heard the subject pump the BB gun three times and then saw him fire toward the cat two to three times, striking the cat once in the eye, according to the report cited by WPLG.
That cat was then taken to a veterinary clinic, where the injured eye reportedly had to be surgically removed. WPLG reported that the veterinary costs totaled $848.50.
Ramiro Perez, 66, was arrested by the Homestead Police Department and faces one count of animal cruelty with intent to injure or kill with a deadly weapon, according to jail records cited by WPLG.
This is why animal advocates cannot look away. A cat should not have to lose an eye because someone allegedly decided to fire a BB gun. Please share this so the cat’s suffering does not disappear after one headline. Don’t forget to share and keep aware.
