CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Senior dog survives brutal attack
Mount Kisco, New York – Milo was supposed to get a routine nail trim.
Instead, investigators say surveillance video shows the 14-pound senior rat terrier being violently slammed onto a grooming table by then-Dogtopia employee Cole Kamrath of Peekskill.
Eventually, Milo would collapse and loose consciousness.
Just imagine bringing your beloved senior dog somewhere for something as simple as a nail trim, trusting that he will be treated with patience and compassion, only to later discover that the person responsible for his care reportedly treated him like this.
When Milo got home, his family knew something was terribly wrong. He was having trouble walking. He wouldn’t eat. He just kept sleeping.
His family rushed him to a vet where they reportedly discovered bruising along his torso, indicating recent trauma.
SPCA Westchester’s Humane Law Enforcement Unit arrested Kamrath and charged him with animal cruelty.
Dogtopia says it fired Kamrath after discovering the disturbing conduct and immediately contacted law enforcement. The company says it is fully cooperating with the investigation.
Thankfully, Milo survived and is now recovering. But surviving does not erase what happened to him.
We are respectfully asking the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office to prosecute this case fully and seek meaningful accountability if the evidence supports a conviction.
Milo could not speak for himself inside that grooming room. Now it is up to all of us to make sure his suffering is not ignored.
