Clifford Beauchard spent his life doing the hard, unglamorous work most people never see. Long hours. Little pay. No protection. Just commitment to animals who needed someone steady and kind.
On December 12, 2025, Clifford and 19-year-old Justin Acevedo were found shot inside a canine training facility in Catskill. Authorities say the shooter, a recently hired coworker, called 911 and later took his own life. New York State Police say they’re investigating.
Cliff’s former colleagues describe him as quiet, focused, and fiercely devoted to dogs. Even when Hi Tor Animal Care Center was shut out of the shelter it had run for 60 years, they say Cliff struggled to leave because he “couldn’t leave the animals.”
