Dallas, TX – An investigation is underway by Dallas Animal Services (DAS) concerning the welfare of multiple dogs at a property located at 3218 Fordham Road in Dallas. Concerns include possible backyard breeding, dog fighting, and overall lack of care for the animals.
Calls for Help and a History of Issues
Local animal advocate Todd Smith has been documenting the situation and advocating for the dogs’ safety. This includes documented instances of the dogs having empty water bowls and no food. Mr. Smith has also been in contact with Dallas Animal Services (DAS) and has provided them with video evidence. However, he feels as though he is not getting the help he needs from the city.
Dallas Animal Services has confirmed that they have received multiple calls regarding the property since last year. These calls include reports of animal bites, aggressive behavior, lack of care, welfare checks, and lastly, animal cruelty.
The City Responds
Dallas Animal Services maintains that they are actively investigating the situation and have made multiple visits to the property. They say their top priorities are public safety and animal welfare. When asked why the dogs are still on the property and if this might be a larger investigation, they would not comment.
The city council member for the district where the property is located is Carolyn King Arnold.
