HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?!?
BAXTER—Maine’s FIRST official comfort dog—DEAD after being left inside a HOT state vehicle! 
NO WORD on how long he was left. NO ACCOUNTABILITY… yet. 
(BTW – Maine Department of Public Safety — their Facebook page right now – is DOWN!)
As in other stories I have covered with animals, like K-9’s with different law enforcement organizations, VEHICLES ARE RETROFITTED to make sure the horn goes off and windows ROLLED DOWN when it gets to be a certain temperature.
CALL TO ACTION:
DEMAND TRANSPARENCY.
DEMAND POLICY CHANGES to protect all working dogs.
DEMAND JUSTICE for Baxter!
