Investigators say he their kittens to punish his daughter. This was his “discipline’
Pine Manor, Florida – When his teenage daughter “acted up,” a Fort Myers father allegedly had a method of punishment. He would kill her kittens in front of her.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in Pine Manor after getting a report that a man was trying to drown and hit a two-month-old kitten named Luna. Witnesses told deputies that the suspect, identified as David Charette Jr., had been abusing and killing the family’s kittens in front of his teenage daughter as a form of punishment whenever she misbehaved.
What investigators uncovered made it far worse. Detectives learned Charette allegedly killed two kittens in the past year alone. In June, he allegedly smothered a one-month-old kitten with a rag soaked in bleach. In a separate incident, he allegedly killed a three-month-old kitten by burning it with a blow dryer. Both kittens had been buried in the backyard. A search recovered one.
Luna was taken to a local animal hospital and is now recovering.
As for Charette, he remains locked up at the Lee County Jail on a $100,000 bond. His next expected date in court is September 8th at 8:30 am.
