Exclusive: New Video of Groomer Already Under Investigation After Video Went Viral
West Bend, Wisconsin – So often as animal advocates we say that it’s normally not a one-off situation. That’s exactly what we heard from Kyle Wilson during last night’s 8:30 pm CST nightly live about Joy Kuhnker, the embattled owner of Joy’s Grooming.
Last week, we broke the news with the video that wet viral and 12 hours later, West Bend police began investigating with the possibility of charges from the Washington County Wisconsin prosecutor’s office.
Wilson, the man who says he took the video that went viral showing Joy Kuhnke allegedly handling a dog aggressively during grooming, told us Kuhnke had allegedly been involved in two separate situations before but he claims there was never enough evidence for anything to move forward.
This time, Wilson said he did not want to let that happen again without documentation and that’s exactly why, he told us in an exclusive interview, that he got out of his phone and started recording.
Wilson also shared another video with us that he says shows Kuhnke “grooming” another dog. He claims this has happened more than once and says he hopes authorities take the case seriously enough to prosecute if the evidence supports it. He also told us Kuhnke has several Shelties of her own.
We reached out to Kuhnke for comment and have yet to hear back.
For many families, a grooming appointment is based on trust. A dog is dropped off with the expectation that it will be treated gently, safely, and professionally. Dogs cannot tell their families what happened once the door closes. That is why cameras, witnesses, and reports matter.
