Northwood, New Hampshire — Authorities say Dane Burke is suspected of killing his girlfriend, Nicole Jackson, in Maine before later entering the Barn Dog Inn and leaving her two dogs, BEar and Honey Bun, behind. Jackson’s death was ruled a homicide, and Burke was later arrested after a multi-state police chase that ended in a crash and SWAT response.
The dogs, through no fault of their own, were caught in the middle of a tragedy they sadly couldn’t understand.
The small mercy in all of this is that the dogs were found alive and are now safe. ![]()
They survived a nightmare that started long before they were quietly left behind with that note.
After being abandoned at the Barn Dog Inn and cared for there, Pet Tails Rescue stepped in and took mom and daughter. Now, they’re safely with their foster mother, decompressing and healing.
