Maricopa County, Arizona — Animal crimes detectives responded to a report of a severely emaciated horse trapped in fencing. Deputies and a veterinarian worked for more than an hour, but the horse’s condition was so critical that humane euthanasia was the only option.
Based on the veterinary assessment and the owner’s statements, charges were filed under Arizona law.
